I love the group Downhere. Janelle introduced this Canadian band to me back about 6 or 7 years ago. I remember it was right after Ryan & I got married. Anyway, they have a new song that they are playing with all the Christmas music now, and for good reason. It's got some good ponderings about Baby Jesus.
Follow the star to a place unexpected
Would you believe after all we've projected
A child in a manger
Lonely and small, the weakest of all
Unlikeliest hero wrapped in His mother's shawl
Just a child
Is this who we've waited for?
Cause how many kings step down from their thrones?
How many lords have abandoned their own?
How many greats have become the least for me?
And how many gods have poured out their hearts?
To romance a world that is torn all apart?
How many fathers gave up their sons for me?
Bringing our gifts for the newborn Savior
All that we have whether costly or meek
Because we believe
Gold for His honor and
Frankencense for His pleasure and
Myrrh for the cross He'll suffer
Do you believe?
Is this who we've waited for?
How many kings step down from their thrones?
How many lords have abandoned their own?
How many greats have become the least for me?
How many gods have poured out their hearts?
To romance a world that is torn all apart?
How many fathers gave up their sons for me?
Only One did that for me

I had a blonde moment when I clicked on the link for this song...I somehow ended up listening to "Come Thou Long Expected Jesus" instead of the song that I was supposed to listen to. I came away thinking...hasn't Joy ever heard this song before? I mean come on, its a pretty old and common song...but if she really likes it then more power to her. It was then that I noticed the lyrics to the song I was really supposed to listen to...I promptly returned to the website and listened to the correct one.
That said, I love Downhere! I was unfamiliar with this latest song and I am once again reminded of how drawn to their music I am. They are nearly perfect (I say nearly because of the weird vibrato thingy the lead singer goes into every once in awhile...). What a great song!
:)
Ryan's crazy. This is a great song. Michael and I both really liked it. :-)
I'm not crazy and MaryAnn is crazy...
